With the news full of the political battles in Wisconsin, it is easy to become distracted and miss legislation proposed right here in Arizona. The following link will keep you informed of new bills before our legislators that will impact union members.

Retiring? What you need to know

As a member of local 428 you have options upon retirement you can either maintain your membership or take an honorable withdrawal. Pensioner dues are $12.00 monthly and can provide your beneficiary with a death benefit. Also, you are welcome to attend meetings, vote on current issues and upcoming elections. Your name can be retained on the out of work list for part time employment opportunities. Your membership continues to get recognition for your years of service as an Operating Engineer.
To take a withdrawal your dues need to be current through that month. The cost is $5.00 and a form needs to be completed for your membership to be sustained. If you decide to return to the industry the card can be deposited after a period of 13 months.

If you are unemployed and received a past due notice for the full amount, we sincerely apologize for any misunderstanding regarding the amount requested for payment. The out of work dues schedule is as follows:

1st QTR 2011 $98.73
2nd QTR 2011 $98.73
3rd QTR 2011 $100.23
4th QTR 2011 $100.23

Local No. 428 has been a chartered labor organization in the state of Arizona since 1936. For over seventy years, we have been proud to provide a stable, well qualified labor force to our employers in the operation of all types and sizes of heavy equipment.

The union represents diverse groups of employees in both the public and private sectors. The majority of Local 428 Operating Engineers work in private construction as heavy equipment operators.

The Local 428 headquarters, located in Phoenix, Arizona, has a staff of professionals devoted to providing its members with quality representation in the areas of contract negotiations, grievance handling and arbitration, pension and trust fund management, financial services and political action.
